Its hard to play doom3 as it won't be out on the mac for a few months! Other than that, they run well. RTCW and UT 2003 work better on my mac than my PC. They even run fine on my 800 powerbook. Should be able to do ok with the current ones, although doom3 is a different case as it was designed for a graphics card that isn't out yet with a minimum of 64Mb graphics card (128M prefered) and processors that came out in the last month! However, it will run with less than that (although I am not sure on the graphics card).
Click to expand. The one in Nottingham is in the Broadmarsh Shopping Centre and its called KRCS Apple Centre. The shop is a little small but they have a large range of Mac kit and the staff are very knowledgable and helpful. Games side is small though. But I think thats a mac thing, its not that the shop doesnt stock much.
Theres also a KRCS in Derby but when I recently went there, the stupid staff reckoned the 61 key keyboard that you can use with Garageband (available from the apple website for £99) was about $200 and they could get one but it would cost £200 - the equivelant in sterling! I havent been to Gordon Harwood yet but I remember them from old (I bought my first Commodore 64 from them) and they always had a large display area. Seems worth a visit.
Finally, with PC World buying Mac Warehouse, I guess you may see stuff filtering through? Nottingham has a massive new PC World store opening soon by Sainsburys Castle Marina.
